Why Window Tinting Is Worth It

Window tinting offers more than just a darker look — it provides practical benefits for everyday driving.

Heat Reduction

Tinted windows help reduce heat build-up inside your vehicle, making it more comfortable, especially during warmer months.

UV Protection

Window tinting helps block harmful UV rays that can damage your vehicle’s interior and contribute to fading over time.

Glare Reduction

Reducing glare from the sun improves visibility and makes driving safer and more comfortable.

Added Privacy

Tinted windows provide increased privacy for both passengers and belongings inside your vehicle.

Shatter Resistence

Window tinting films can also provide protection in the event of an accident or impact. The film can hold shattered glass together, preventing it from scattering inside the vehicle and potentially causing injuries to the occupants.

Aesthetic Appeal

Window tinting can enhance your car's overall look, giving it a sleek, stylish appearance. It can also enhance the exterior aesthetics with a touch of customisation.

Window Tinting Designed for Comfort and Protection

Window tinting is one of the simplest ways to improve your driving experience.

It helps reduce heat inside your vehicle, minimises glare and protects interior surfaces from sun damage. It also adds privacy and improves overall comfort, especially in the Australian climate.

Window Tinting That Meets Australian Standards

It’s important that window tinting complies with Australian regulations. Professional installation ensures your tint meets legal requirements while still delivering the benefits of heat and UV reduction.

VIP Car Care Central Coast have the knowledge to ensure that all tinting services comply with Australian law.  The following standards are applied to all vehicles registered in NSW and are consistent with nationally accepted standards:

  1. Tinting or tinted film must not be reflective or mirror-like.
  2. The windscreen must have a light transmission level of at least 70%. Windscreen glazing of a motor vehicle must not be coated in a way that reduces its luminous transmittance
  3. Windows adjacent to the driver’s seating position and the driver’s door must have a visible light transmission level of at least 35%.
  4. Rearward of the diver’s seating position must have a visible light transmission level of at least 20%.
  5. The light transmission requirements do not apply to a tinted or opaque band at the top of the windscreen, provided it is above the portion of the windscreen swept by the wipers or has a depth of no more than 10% of the windscreen depth.

There is no limit on the number of windows to the rear of the driver for light trucks, commercial vehicles, and other goods-carrying vehicles and buses.

Please Note: All vehicle windows with glass that meets the Australian Design Rules (ADRs) and has dark glass (also known as privacy glass) fitted cannot have any window film applied to them. All glazing that includes an applied film is required to meet the 35% LT rule.

Of course, you do not need to worry about the above if you have us tint your windows. We will ensure all tinting is fully compliant.
